Shameless opinion piece: Why You Should Hire a Wedding Planner or like…more realistically….Why You Should Hire Lily Moon Weddings!

If you’re in the midst of planning your wedding you already know that it’s no joke. The time it takes to plan, the meticulous details, the tidbits popping up that you didn’t even see coming etc. etc. It’s a lot. It might even be too much. In fact, you might be so overwhelmed that it may be time to consider some professional help. I don’t mean therapy and happy pills (though there’s absolutely not shame in that!) but maybe someone to help guide the way and make sure that your wedding day runs smoothly.
To help you decide, I’ve put together a list of pros when it comes to hiring a wedding photographer.

Stress Reduction
- A wedding planner takes care of logistics, coordination, and problem-solving, so you can enjoy the process. Leave all the difficult details to us! We can organize everything, compile it for you in an organized manner and then you can approve or scrap things as we go. EASY.
Time Saving
- Planning a wedding takes so much time. Things pop up, vendors don’t get back to you in a timely manner, maybe you envisioned your day one way but now you’re months in and that vision has changed, I could go on. When you hire a wedding planner you’re leaving all the footwork to them. You can bring your creative ideas and your planner can do all the time encompassing things like calling up vendors, creating new vision boards and to do lists for the creative changes you want to make, basically taking your to do list and running with it.

Budgeting
- Almost everyone is working with a careful budget for their wedding day. Sometimes it’s tough to stay within that budget or you want certain things for your wedding day that feel out of reach. Having a wedding planner helps with that budget because it’s literally our job to make your vision come to life and do it in a way that matches your bottom line. It also helps that we know almost everyone in the local industry so not only are you getting recommendations based on budget but also on QUALITY.
Experience
- With over 15 years in the wedding industry, we have just about seen it all. We can tell you what’s worth your time and money vs. what you might want to avoid. This goes for vendors too. There’s some phenomenal ones out there and there’s also ones that you probably want to dodge.
Decorating & Creative Vision
- Hiring a planner also means you have an extra set of hands to decorate the space. If you don’t have a group of family and friends ready to jump on deck, we are happy to oblige!
Last Minute Issues
- In the summer of 2024 we had an Ithaca wedding where the ceremony was supposed to take place outside. The weather was sketchy with scattered rain storms and within a few hours of the ceremony taking place we had to decide on whether we would remain outside or move everything into the barn. When we realized an outdoor ceremony wasn’t going to happen, our event coordinator Karla went all super woman and had everything set up inside the barn perfectly. Having someone who can help transform a wedding space at the last minute takes SO much stress off the bride and groom.

Let Your Friends & Family Celebrate!
- Many of my clients have amazing families who were happy to jump in to decorate and help keep the day moving in an organized fashion. However, this is stressful for them too. If you’re looking to relieve some or all of that stress, a day of coordinator is definitely a HUGE help.
Vendors
- Having someone correlate with all your vendors is key. Everyone needs to be on the same page and sometimes vendors have needs that need to be met, like food! We’ll make sure that your vendors are taken care of so they can do their jobs to the best of their ability.
